In the 2023/24 season, Kartal Karagedik will be performing as Zurga in "Les pêcheurs de perles" at Opera Vlaanderen and at Hamburg State Opera as Rodrigue in "Don Carlos," Enrico in "Lucia di Lammermoor," and Malatesta in "Don Pasquale". He will also take on the role of Frère Léon in "Saint François d'Assise" at the Elbphilharmonie and the Grand Théâtre de Genève.

His concert calendar for the season includes Schubert Liederabends with Helmut Deutsch in Antwerp and Istanbul, and Brahms‘ Schöne Magelone op. 33. with Daniel Heide in Oberlausitz Kammermusik Festival.

In 2022/23 season, Kartal performed as il Conte in "Le Nozze di Figaro" at Malmö Opera and Opera Vlaanderen. He appeared as Marcello in "La Bohème" and Enrico in "Lucia di Lammermoor" at Hamburg Staatsoper and made his house debut at the Grand Théâtre de Genève with the world premiere of Christian Jost's "Voyage vers l'espoir."

Karagedik has been a resident artist at the Hamburg State Opera since the 2015/16 season, where he has performed various roles. Notable performances include Il Conte Almaviva in "Le Nozze di Figaro", Marcello in "La Bohème," Lescaut in "Manon Lescaut," Renato in "Un Ballo in Maschera," Ford in "Falstaff," Eugen Onegin, Guglielmo in "Così fan tutte," Chorèbe in "Les Troyens," Belcore in "L'Elisir d'Amore," Malatesta in "Don Pasquale," and Dandini in "La Cenerentola."

as a guest artist he appeared at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago as Marcello in "La Bohème" and made his debut at Vlaamse Opera in the title role of "Le Duc d'Albe." Where he has also returned as Rodrigue in "Don Carlos" and Marcello in "La Bohème." Germont in "La Traviata" at Theater St. Gallen, Paolo in "Simon Boccanegra" at Opéra de Normandie in Rouen , as Rodrigo in "Don Carlo" at Oper Leipzig,, and Escamillo at Komische Oper Berlin, Savonlinna Opera Festival as "Don Giovanni."

 

On concert stage, Karagedik has performed „Mahler's 8th Symphony“ under the baton of Eliahu Inbal at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, „Kindertotenlieder“ in Mahler Festwochen in Toblach with Münchener Symphoniker , „Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen“ in Istanbul with the CRR Symphony Orchestra, „Beethoven's 9th Symphony“ at the Brucknerhaus in Linz and performed in venues such as Mozartsaal in Vienna, Hercules Saal in Munich, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Frankfurt Opera, Düsseldorf Deutsche Oper am Rhein...

Karagedik has collaborated with esteemed conductors including Kent Nagano, Stefano Ranzani, Ottavio Dantone, Eliahu Inbal, Gianluca Capuano, Roberto Rizzi-Brignoli, Christoph Prick, Valerio Galli, Yves Abel, Anthony Bramall, Ulf Schirmer, Christoph Gedschold, Joana Mallwitz, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Antonello Allemandi, Paolo Arrivabeni, Alejo Perez, Aziz Shokhakimov, Axel Kober, Marie Jacquot...

From 2009 he was an ensemble member of Theater Magdeburg and Theater Erfurt from 2013, also at the very beginning of his career he has been on stages of including Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Riccardo/I Puritani) and the Puccini Festival Torre del Lago (Sharpless/Madama Butterfly) at Oper Leipzig (Vater/Hänsel und Gretel), Staatstheater Braunschweig (Gerard-Andréa Chenier) Teatro Sociale di Como (as Falstaff) and Theater Freiburg as Mischonnet/Adriana Lecouvreur)

Karagedik was born in Turkey and completed his vocal studies in his hometown of Izmir and at the Accademia Dell'Opera Italiana in Bologna. Kartal continues to work on Italian repertoire with Giorgio Zancanaro.

In addition to his singing career, Kartal is also an acclaimed prizewinning photographer. Since 2014, his photography exhibitions have received widespread public acclaim.
